Words that sit with you. A voice that doesn't rush past.
The Fred B 1 of 1 Experience — April 18, 2025
A sold-out evening of spoken word, live performance, and presence. This is Fred B in a room he commands — the kind of experience that lingers. Available for corporate events, DEI programming, Juneteenth celebrations, and curated cultural experiences.
Book Fred B for Your Event
Fred B. is a Houston-based spoken word artist whose work lives at the crossroads of manhood, memory, and meaning. Raised in California and shaped by years of study, family life, and lived experience, his poetry favors clarity over spectacle — language meant to sit with the listener rather than rush past them.
"He doesn't write to persuade. He writes to name what people already recognize but haven't yet said."
After an early start in poetry, Fred stepped away from the stage for more than a decade to build a life: marriage, fatherhood, and a career in education and leadership. When he returned to the mic, he came back with a different voice — one sharpened by reading, reflection, and the discipline of paying attention.
His work carries the moral insistence of James Baldwin, the interior honesty of Toni Morrison — poems that wrestle with masculinity without bravado, and love without illusion. He writes about what survives when the slogans fall apart.
Book an AppearancePOETRY LOUNGE SUNDAYS · JUNE 21, 2026
Named a 2026 King of Poetry by Poetry Lounge Sundays — Houston's premier spoken word institution for over two decades.
On Father's Day 2026, Poetry Lounge Sundays brought together thirty of Houston's most celebrated spoken word artists for one unforgettable night of poetic excellence. Fred B was named among the honorees — men whose words, passion, and dedication have helped shape Houston's poetry community for generations.
It was more than an awards show. It was a reunion, a celebration, and a moment in history — with the soundtrack to the evening provided by Jay-Z's The Black Album.
Long live the Kings of Poetry.

Three seasons of real conversations — the kind people have when they think no one's listening. FredTalx was Fred's audio experiment in honesty: exploring manhood, culture, and the spaces between.
The mic may be off for now, but the catalog speaks for itself. Start from the beginning or pick an episode that finds you where you are.
Fred's first published work explored the power of language — how the words we speak shape the life we live. Written during his years as a pastor and community leader, this book marked the beginning of a lifelong relationship with the written and spoken word.
His lens has evolved since 2012. The conviction that words carry weight has not.

Fred's next book is the natural continuation of everything he performs, speaks, and lives. A meditation on what it actually means to be whole — not the performance of strength, but the real thing.
Unfinished. Honest. Worth the wait. Expected late 2026 / Q1 2027.
